Leestown Middle School Orchestra
Superior and Excellent Ratings at Music in the Parks
Congratulations to the Leestown Festival Orchestra (7th and 8th Graders) who received a "Superior Rating" on Saturday May 28 at the Music in the Parks Festival in Loveland High School, Loveland, OH. A big congratulations also to the Leestown 6th Grade Orchestra who received an "Excellent Rating"!!!
Everyone played very, very well. They behaved even better! The staff at Loveland High School gave the students numerous compliments on their conduct and manner. We are so happy for them!! The Festival Orchestra rehearsed together only twice before the event, but they really focused and gave their best effort. They acted, looked, and behaved in a distinguished manner at King's Island Amusement Park as well. It did rain a little at the park but the lines were very short for the rides!
At the awards ceremony in the park, our students stood up, cheered and applauded for each school and soloist who received an award. It was a beautiful sight to witness! They danced, they sang, they screamed, and they jumped for joy when they were awarded the Esprit de Corps Award and Best Overall Trophy!
Abby Clay and Sara Hudson were the most fabulous teacher-chaperones!! Thank you for your extra hard work with us. Our parents were amazing with our kids, too. We had 9 parents and a grand-parent go with us. Thank you paretns!! you are the BEST! Way to go, Chargers!
May 6th - The "Library Concert"
was presented by our 8th Grade Orchestra. It was a wonderful concert in the library for small groups at ous school. Invitations were sent to our student population who may not have the chance to attend concerts after school or on their own time.
Many of the 8th graders said that this was their most favorite performance of the year! Promise Kayembe, a Leestown Out-Loud Poet, observed: "To live is to play music, to play music is to make people happy, to make people happy is to change lives, to change lives is to change the world..."
These students represented LMS at Honors Orchestra on Saturday, April 16th.
It was a fantastic event and a beautiful day. They sounded awesome! Way to go, Chargers!!!!
